SHALAMAR. Friends Album Turns 33

Released on January 29, 1982 SHALAMAR's "Friends" became the most successful album reaching #1 R&B in the U.S. and one of Great Britain's pinnacle albums. Featuring hit singles "A Night To Remember", which continues to be revisited with recent covers by Mary J. Blige, used to promote OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) 2014 Fall/Winter season and being sung on competition shows like "American Idol" and The X Factor. The Friends album also gained attention the the United Kingdom from the body-popping backsliding Jeffrey Daniel who'd learned new moves from LA based dance pioneers Electric Boogaloo, Geron Candidate and Cooley Jaxson.
Other stand out songs from "Friends" in the UK were "There it Is", "Friends", "I Can Make You Feel Good."

"Friends" was reissued again in 2013 by Big Break Records as a double disc featuring a new interview about the album by original member Jody Watley.
